Soichi Mizutani
OVERVIEW AND DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
A designer and architect whose work extends beyond Japan to international locations such as Paris and Jakarta, Indonesia. He undertakes a wide range of architectural and interior design projects, from residences, commercial facilities, office buildings, and hotels to medical facilities.
Inspired by his encounters with architecture in Paris in his twenties, he pursues the Japanese concept of "design by subtraction." He places importance not only on a building's exterior but also on furniture and lighting within its interior spaces, regarding light in particular as an essential element of spatial composition. His distinctive style incorporates a soft, warm light reminiscent of a sunset filtered through snow, inspired by memories from his childhood.

MAJOR PROJECTS
His work spans a wide range of fields, with particular expertise in medical facilities such as dental, ophthalmology, and dermatology clinics. His projects also include the design of all Hermès Japon offices in Japan and fashion designer Kenzo Takada's residence in Paris.
